Mischa Barton

Barton has worked in theater as well as film and television. She is American-born and British. At the Lincoln Center in New York City she performed her first appearance in the theater with Tony Kushner's Slavs! and played the lead in James Lapine's Twelve Dreams. In 1996 she debuted as an actress, with an appearance as a character in All My Children. She played characters in Nickelodeon's animated program KaBlam! She worked in television from 1996 to 1997. Her debut role as an actor from 1996 to 1997 was in Lawn Dogs, a drama that starred Sam Rockwell. Her film roles were notable in films like M. Night Shyamalan's psychological thriller The Sixth Sense (1999) and romantic comedy Notting Hill (1999). In addition, she starred in the independent crime drama Pups. Barton played Evan Rachel Wood's love interest in ABC's Once and Again in 2001 as well as in the independent film Lost and Delirious in 2001. As a character on Marissa Cooper on the Fox TV show The O.C. in 2003-2006 the actress was honored with two Teen Choice Awards. Barton was rated the "It girl of 2003" by Entertainment Weekly because she played the character. Barton played the role of a leading character in the Richard Attenborough directed dramatic Closing the Ring as well as in the comedy Saint Trinian's assassination of the high school president and the Assassination of the President.
